A recent study conducted by the BC Association of Farmers’ Markets revealed that the White Rock Farmers’ Market had a significant impact on the local economy last year, contributing over $5 million. This groundbreaking study also identified $3.55 million in direct sales and a total of 81,600 shoppers during the season as key highlights of the market’s success.

In addition to the economic impact, the study found that across the province, B.C.’s markets generated $233 million in direct sales. Despite challenges such as the COVID-19 pandemic, the results showed that farmers markets in B.C. have continued to grow over the past decade.

Notable findings specific to the White Rock market include the fact that the average shopper spent $43.37 per visit and that 51% of surveyed visitors came to the market either almost weekly or two to three times per month. This demonstrates the market’s popularity and importance to the community.

The White Rock Farmers Market will open for the 2024 season on April 21 at Miramar Plaza (15154 Russell Ave.). It will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sundays until Oct. 13. For more information, interested individuals can visit whiterockfarmersmarket.ca.
