Jordan Willis, who made his Northampton debut in a 2-1 defeat at Bolton Wanderers, has signed a new two-year contract with the club. The 29-year-old defender joined the Cobblers as a free agent last October and played in 28 games last season. Willis began his career at Coventry City, where he played nearly 180 league matches, before moving on to Sunderland and Wycombe.

Northampton manager Jon Brady praised Willis for his calmness, presence, and experience on the field, citing them as important factors in the team’s performance last season. Brady described Willis as an excellent professional with a strong pedigree and at a good age for a center-back position.

Despite finishing 14th in League One last season with 60 points, Northampton has shown confidence in Willis by extending his contract. His contributions to the team’s defense are expected to be crucial as they aim for a stronger season ahead.
