Michigan football had a slow start to recruiting for the 2025 class, despite having three players committed early on, including two high-profile recruits. However, two of the three players ended up decommitting, leaving Carter Smith as the only initial commit. Now, as June approaches, Michigan football is starting to see more commitments and is rising up the recruiting team rankings.
Rival fans have criticized Michigan for their relatively low ranking in recruiting, especially coming off a national championship. Nevertheless, with seven pledges, Michigan’s per-recruit rating is higher than most schools. In fact, many schools ranked above Michigan have more commits than the Wolverines currently do, as well as schools ranked below them.
With the recent commitment of Kainoa Winston, Michigan’s ranking across the three major recruiting services has improved. Their per-recruit average places them as a top-10 team on all three sites. However, their overall ranking is lower due to having fewer commits compared to other schools.
As official visit weekends continue, Michigan is expected to see more recruits commit, which could improve their overall ranking. However, the per-recruit ranking may start to fall on average depending on the quality of the recruits who pledge to the program.
