Coastal Specialty Physical Therapy recently celebrated its grand opening with a ribbon cutting event on August 21st. The new clinic, located in the Hacienda Building on High Bluff Drive in Carmel Valley, focuses on general orthopedics and pelvic floor physical therapy for women. The clinic aims to provide compassionate and effective care to help active individuals stay active.

Physical therapist and owner Crystal Hazelton, a Solana Beach resident with 16 years of experience, decided to open her own space. Her practice prioritizes individualized treatments to ensure the best results for each patient. With dual board certification in orthopedics and pelvic rehabilitation, Hazelton is particularly passionate about helping women stay active after pregnancy.

Hazelton’s interest in women’s health began during physical therapy school when she noticed the lack of treatment options available for pregnant women in pain. This sparked her journey to understand and address women’s health issues. In addition to orthopedic-related diagnoses like injuries and post-op care, Coastal Specialty offers treatment for pelvic health issues such as chronic pelvic pain, urinary and bowel dysfunctions, and pregnancy/postpartum concerns.

Prior to opening Coastal Specialty, Hazelton worked for the US Navy at the Naval Medical Center San Diego. During her time there, she developed the “Pregnant to PRT” (Physical Readiness Test) program to help women transition from pregnancy to passing their first fitness test postpartum. Helping women safely and progressively improve their core and pelvic floor to excel at their fitness test was a rewarding experience for Hazelton.

Coastal Specialty Physical Therapy can be found at 12625 High Bluff Drive, suite 107 in Carmel Valley. To learn more about their services, visit their website at mycoastalpt.com.
