Former India fast bowler Sreesanth believes that wicket-keeper batsman Sanju Samson should be included in India’s playing XI for the 2024 T20 World Cup. He suggests that Samson should play as a pure batsman instead of Shivam Dube, without replacing first-choice wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant. Sreesanth argues that if Dube is not bowling, India should pick a better batsman in Samson. He recommends Samson to be included as a finisher in the team.

Sreesanth emphasized that Samson is hungry for an opportunity and can contribute significantly to the team. He praised Samson’s fielding abilities, highlighting his inclusion as an asset to the team. Despite Samson usually batting at number three in the IPL, Sreesanth believes that he should be utilized as a finisher in the T20 World Cup matches.

Sreesanth, who has won the 2007 T20 World Cup and the 2011 Cricket World Cup, sees great potential in Samson playing a crucial role in achieving high scores and chasing targets if required. He points out Dube’s previous performances and the need for India to strengthen their batting lineup for optimal performance in the upcoming matches.

During the T20 World Cup, Dube played a vital role in India’s victory against the USA, demonstrating his capabilities with the bat. On the other hand, Samson had a successful IPL season before the T20 World Cup, finishing as the fifth-highest run-scorer with 531 runs for the Rajasthan Royals. India will be facing Australia and Afghanistan in the Super 8 stage of the tournament.
