During the Yankees’ 8-5 victory over the Minnesota Twins, star player Juan Soto was forced to leave the game due to discomfort in his left forearm. The incident occurred after a rain delay that lasted nearly an hour at Yankee Stadium. When play resumed in the top of the sixth inning, Soto was pulled from the game, and Aaron Judge took his place in right field while Alex Verdugo replaced him in left.

It is uncertain how serious Soto’s injury is at this point, but further testing is scheduled for Friday to determine the extent of the issue. Manager Aaron Boone mentioned that Soto had been experiencing discomfort in his forearm for about a week leading up to the game. Despite there being no specific trigger for the discomfort on Thursday night, Boone felt it was best to not risk further injury by allowing Soto to continue playing.

When Soto exited the game, he had gone 0-for-1 with two walks. The 25-year-old outfielder has been a key player for the Yankees this season after being acquired from the San Diego Padres in a significant trade. With a batting average of .318, 53 RBI, and 17 home runs, Soto has been a consistent performer for the team.

Although it is unclear how long Soto will be sidelined, if at all, the Yankees are preparing for his potential absence. Top outfield prospect Jasson Domínguez was pulled from his Triple-A game early on Thursday night, but the move was pre-planned. The team is also uncertain about how long Domínguez will remain with the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders.

Despite the setback of losing Soto, the Yankees managed to secure an 8-5 win over the Twins, extending their winning streak to eight games. This victory improved the team’s record to 45-19 overall and gave them a perfect 6-0 record against the Twins this season.
