AJ Pankowski is the Sports Director for CBS6 in Albany and joined the on-air team in August 2022. He has a passion for sports and loves to cover high school soccer games. Pankowski also expressed his excitement for the first serious horse racing season in Saratoga Springs this year. When he’s not covering sports, he enjoys watching them and plans to take a break to grill, with steak being his specialty. Sport is his life and he loves traveling, with Italy being on his must-visit list.
Pankowski is an avid Cleveland sports fan and has had season tickets for the Browns since they came back in 1999. He attends as many games as possible each year, hoping that this year will finally be his year with the Browns. Ohio State football is also a religion in his family, and he goes to the Horseshoe to watch a Buckeyes game when he’s not at a Browns game.
He got his Bachelor’s degree in Business Sports Management with a minor in Finance from Keuka University, where he played relief pitcher for the Keuka baseball team for four years. He then went on to Syracuse University’s Newhouse School for Public Communications for a Master’s degree in Broadcast Digital Journalism, where he learned everything he needed to know about journalism.
