New Exhibit at Functional Fabric Fair Showcases Cutting-Edge NASA Technology in Fabrics

Functional Fabric Fair, powered by PERFORMANCE DAYS, concluded another successful show at the Oregon Convention Center in Portland, Ore from April 17-18. The event attracted 2,100 attendees and featured over 260 textile suppliers from around the world, presenting sustainable functional fabrics for the apparel industry’s Spring 2025/2026 collections. Steve McCullough, the event director, noted that the show exceeded all expectations and was filled with inspiration, creativity, and groundbreaking advancements.

Attendees had access to different areas on the show floor to learn, discover, and be inspired. The Trend Forum showcased a collection of 100 percent sustainable trend fabrics and accessories curated by a panel of experts. QR codes provided more information, allowed attendees to request samples, and visit the exhibitor. The Innovation Zone showcased upcoming products and technologies, while the new Sustainability Lounge provided a collaborative environment focusing on the future of sustainability.

The Outdoor Recreation Archive from Utah State University highlighted trends and innovations from the 1990s, featuring different genres of outdoor clothing styles from that era. Additionally, a new exhibition showcasing the NASA Technology Transfer Program was featured at the event. This program ensures that innovations developed for space exploration are available to the public, maximizing benefits to the nation. USU’s Outdoor Product Design & Development student projects were also on display, showcasing designs that utilized NASA-technology patents.
