2024 Spring Sports Postseason Schedule and Results for Gastonia and Shelby

The postseason action for spring sports in Cleveland, Gaston, and Lincoln counties has begun, with playoff tennis kicking things off on Wednesday. Boys golf, baseball, softball, and other sports will also be starting their playoff games next week. Among the top performers in Gastonia and Shelby are athletes like Burns’ Marshall McGowan, who had a career night in a Bulldog win. The playoff projections are also being watched closely, determining which teams are in and which are out for the NCHSAA baseball and softball playoffs for Gastonia and Shelby teams.

In boys tennis, second-round matchups on May 6 include North Lincoln at Lake Norman Charter and Stuart Cramer at South Point in Class 3A, Lincoln Charter at West Stokes in Class 2A, and Mountain Heritage at Piedmont Community Charter and Highland Tech at Bishop McGuinness in Class 1A. The first round of games included matchups like Ledford beating Forestview 7-2, North Lincoln defeating Smoky Mountain 5-1, and Stuart Cramer winning against A.C. Reynolds 5-1.

Boys golf regionals for 1A West and 2A West are set for May 6 at Mountain Harbour Golf Club and Cleghorn Golf & Sports Club, respectively. The 3A West regional will be played on May 7 at Springdale Country Club. Baseball and softball brackets will be released on May 6, with postseason play beginning the next day. Girls soccer brackets will be released on May 10, with postseason play starting on May 13. NCHSAA track and field regionals are scheduled for May 10 and 11.
