The weather on Saturday was perfect for a run, and almost 2,000 participants decided to take advantage of the outdoors for a good cause. The On Our Sleeves 5K event kicked off at the Columbus Crew’s Lower.com Field. This community run and walk aims to raise awareness, break stigmas, and raise funds for On Our Sleeves, a foundation dedicated to addressing children’s mental health. The proceeds from the event will support the foundation in continuing to provide free mental health resources.

Whitney Raglin Bignall, associate clinical director for Nationwide Children’s Hospital, emphasized the importance of talking about mental health and breaking stigmas surrounding it. She highlighted the significance of bringing awareness and fundraising efforts to help support this cause. Over 6 million people across the United States have engaged with the movement’s free pediatric mental health education resources since 2018.
