6 breweries from Minnesota awarded medals at the 2024 World Beer Cup

Six breweries from Minnesota stood out among more than 2,000 participants at the annual 2024 World Beer Cup held in Las Vegas. These breweries brought home medals from the competition, which took place as part of the Craft Brewers Conference and BrewExpo America. One of the standout beers was Bent Paddle Brewing Co.’s Little Düssel Do-Ya, which won the gold medal in the German-style Altbier category. Another notable winner was Northbound Smokehouse & Brewpub, which took first place in the German-style Doppelbock or Eisbock category with their Doppelbock.

Lupulin Brewing, located in Big Lake, received the silver medal in the Dortmunder/Export or German-Style Oktoberfest category for their limited-release Dortmunder. Excelsior Brewing Company’s Big Island Citrus Blonde Ale won a silver medal in the Fruit Beer category. BeerClub Brewing from Mora also took home a bronze medal in the German-Style Doppelbock or Eisbock category with Doppel Bock. Pryes Brewing Co. of Minneapolis secured a third-place win in the Mixed-Culture Brett Beer category with their Idyll Forest Soirée.

The World Beer Cup is the largest beer competition globally, with 110 categories covering 172 different beer styles. This year, 9,300 entries from over 2,000 breweries across 50 nations were evaluated by a panel of 280 judges from 37 countries. The competition is hosted by the Brewers Association, a nonprofit trade association dedicated to supporting small and independent American craft brewers.
