The multinational company Bauer is set to launch its irrigation equipment in Argentina next month, as confirmed by the brand’s Marketing Manager for the region, Rodrigo Parada, during the Agrishow fair. Earlier this year, Bauer participated in the Expoagro agroindustrial exhibition in San Nicolás and saw promising results, with around 500 devices sold in the country in 2023.

Bauer, originally from Austria, is known for irrigating a total of approximately 2.5 million hectares across more than 100 countries. In 2007, the company began operating in Brazil and has since built a plant in São Paulo to supply the country. Bauer also has plans to enter the markets of Chile, Peru, and Bolivia.

The company’s core business is the sale of pivots, which can irrigate up to 400 hectares of land. In Brazil, Bauer currently holds a 20% market share and aims to achieve the same percentage in Argentina within 2 to 5 years. To support their operations in Argentina, Bauer will work with a distributor and is in the process of finalizing agreements with 10 local stores for sales and after-sales support.

Argentina currently has around 2 million hectares of irrigated land, but there is potential for this to increase to 6 million hectares. In Brazil, the irrigated area stands at 6 million hectares, with a potential to reach 30-40 million hectares. The recent drought in Argentina, which led to a significant decrease in harvest yields, has highlighted the importance of irrigation equipment in the agricultural sector.

With the liberalization of imports and improved payment terms in Argentina, Bauer sees a positive outlook for their expansion in the country. The company is confident that their high-quality products and established reputation will allow them to succeed in the Argentine market and contribute to the growth of the agricultural sector.
