The University of Maryland Upper Chesapeake Health announced on Friday the naming of the Anna and James Lambdin Health and Wellness Center at its new Aberdeen campus. The 93,000-square-foot facility, located at 650 McHenry Road in Aberdeen, offers a variety of clinical services including primary care, endocrinology and diabetes care, cardiology, hematology and oncology, infusion services, wound care, orthopedics, physical therapy, rehabilitation, imaging, and lab services.

The Lambdins, residents of Fair Hill, have been generous supporters and donors to the UM Upper Chesapeake Health Foundation. Their commitment of $7.5 million in 2021, the largest gift ever received by the foundation, established an endowment to create The Anna and James Lambdin Leadership Institute at UM UCH. The Lambdins’ contribution will benefit future generations of nurses and leaders, reflecting their dedication to supporting their community.

James Lambdin has been a member and officer of UM Upper Chesapeake Health and its hospitals’ Boards of Directors for nearly two decades, while Anna Lambdin is actively involved in the community through her service to various nonprofit organizations. In addition to the Anna and James Lambdin Health and Wellness Center, the Aberdeen campus is also home to the UM Upper Chesapeake Medical Center Aberdeen, a 130,000-square-foot facility.

The new facility in Aberdeen, which opened in February, features 25 emergency department bays, two trauma centers, an in-patient behavioral health facility for individuals in a mental health crisis, and Maryland’s first acute-ready stroke facility. Another new facility also opened in February in Bel Air, with a 72-bed patient tower on Upper Chesapeake Drive and a new ambulatory surgery center being built in Bel Air. As part of this transition, Harford Memorial Hospital in Havre de Grace has closed.
