ACI World Honors 100th Airport with Customer Experience Accreditation

Balram Bheodari is the General Manager of Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, which is regarded as North America’s most efficient airport under his leadership. His extensive knowledge and focus on aviation efficiency have allowed the airport to excel in even the toughest markets. Bheodari is known for his operational expertise, integrity, and dedication to providing quality leadership at Atlanta Airport. He oversees all aspects of airport governance, including operations and the multi-billion-dollar ATLNext capital improvement program designed to support Atlanta’s growth over the next two decades.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Bheodari developed a comprehensive playbook to guide the airport’s resumption of operations and aid in its recovery efforts. He worked closely with the Federal Aviation Administration and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to ensure that the airport followed the latest health and safety guidelines. Bheodari emphasized collaboration among stakeholders, team-building among airport employees, and adaptability in uncertain times. He also engaged in daily calls with Airports Council International and other major airports to share best practices and information from federal offices in Washington, D.C. and the CDC.

Bheodari’s goal was to restore customer confidence and create a healthy facility with COVID-19 safe protocols in place. Thanks to his efforts, the airport was recognized as Airport of the Year by the Airport Minority Advisory Council (AMAC). Throughout the pandemic, Bheodari supported the airport’s mission-critical employees, recognizing the essential role they play in maintaining the airport’s operations. He ensured that these employees felt valued through hazard pay, special meals, social media posts, intranet spotlights, and other incentives.

His commitment to the organization’s strategic plan is evident in his focus on people, purpose, and performance. Bheodari’s actions and directives demonstrate his dedication to ensuring the success and well-being of Atlanta Airport and its employees.
