On Tuesday, April 23, exciting news hit the headlines in Pensacola. The vacant International Paper golf course in Cantonment is getting a new lease on life. Additionally, the Santa Rosa Clerk is tightening vendor payment methods after a fraud incident.

One of the most anticipated developments is the expansion of pickleball at the Port of Pensacola. The plans include the addition of eight tournament-size outdoor pickleball courts, as well as spaces for outdoor games and a waterfront concessions area with stunning views of Pensacola Bay.

The Pensacola City Council is gearing up to approve a lease amendment that will allow for the construction of the Warehouse 4 Sports pickleball courts. The boundary lines will be adjusted to accommodate the project, which will also involve extending the public sidewalk for better access to the restaurant and concession area.

In addition to the exciting updates, Warehouse 4 Sports will also be required to build parking spots for the new American Magic headquarters within the Port’s security perimeter. The lease terms include an increase in rent and an investment requirement of $4 million into the project over the 15-year lease period.

The unanimous support of the City Council indicates that the updated lease is on track to move forward smoothly. Warehouse 4 Sports has estimated that construction of the outdoor courts will take three to four months once it begins.
