The Minister of Agriculture of Ukraine, Mikola Solski, submitted his resignation on Thursday following allegations of misappropriation of state-owned land worth 5 million euros. The President of the Verkhovna Rada, Ruslan Stefanchuk, confirmed the receipt of Solski’s resignation letter and stated that a decision on the matter would be made during the next parliamentary sessions.

Solski later confirmed his resignation through the official channels of the Ministry of Agriculture, calling it the correct step considering the situation. He expressed gratitude for a potential decision to accept his resignation or stated his willingness to continue working if Parliament decides so.

The accusations against Solski involved the transfer of nearly 2,500 hectares of state-owned land to new owners between 2017 and 2021 while he was working as a lawyer for a company that received the land for use. The Anti-Corruption Office requested preventive detention for Solski with bail set at 4.7 million euros. Solski has maintained his innocence, stating that the events in question were a dispute between state companies and individuals that occurred seven years ago.

These events have led to discussions and decisions within the Ukrainian Parliament regarding Solski’s resignation as Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food. The matter will likely be addressed in upcoming parliamentary sessions.
