Tampa Bay Wave has opened the applications portal for its inaugural 2024 HealthTech|X Accelerator program, made possible by a grant from the U.S. Economic Development Administration (EDA). The program is set to officially launch in Tampa on July 22, 2024, with the aim of fueling innovation and supporting high-potential healthtech startups in Tampa and beyond.

The HealthTech|X Accelerator is a non-profit program that does not require equity from participants. It offers a 90-day immersive experience that includes one-on-one mentoring, pitch coaching, and investment readiness training to help startups succeed.

Sponsored in part by The Florida High Tech Corridor, USF Research & Innovation, Foley & Lardner, and Levo Health, the program also has partnerships with the Tampa Bay Economic Development Council (EDC) and the USF Health Center for Advanced Medical Learning and Simulation (CAMLS).

Linda Olson, CEO of Tampa Bay Wave, expressed excitement about opening the application process and inviting innovative healthtech startups to join in advancing healthcare technology in the region.

The HealthTech|X Accelerator aligns with the vision of the Tampa Medical and Research District, a growing hub of clinical care, academics, research, and biotechnology that includes institutions like Tampa General Hospital and the USF Health Morsani College of Medicine. In partnership with the 1 Tampa Bay Economic Development Council, the district aims to build an inclusive ecosystem to attract talent and innovation, creating jobs and promoting a healthier, more prosperous region.
