Amazon’s Prime Video has announced the premiere date for Betty la Fea, the Story Continues. This series is a sequel to the Colombian telenovela that served as the inspiration for ABC’s Ugly Betty. The highly anticipated premiere is set for July 19 and will be available in over 240 countries and territories worldwide.

The cast of Betty la Fea, the Story Continues includes Ana María Orozco reprising her role as Betty, alongside Jorge Enrique Abello. Also returning are original cast members such as Julián Arango, Natalia Ramírez, Lorna Cepeda, and more. New additions to the cast include Rodrigo Candamil, Juanita Molin, Zharick León, and Sebastián Osorio.

This new series is a production of RCN Estudios for Prime Video. It follows the story of Beatriz Pinzón Solano 20 years after the original show concluded. The original telenovela, Yo soy Betty, la Fea, created by Fernando Gaitán, has been a global sensation. It has been dubbed into 15 languages and adapted in up to 28 territories including India, South Africa, and the U.S. Following its initial success, a sequel series aired in 2001 in Colombia.

Ugly Betty, the American adaptation, ran for four seasons on ABC starring America Ferrera. Telemundo also produced a version in 2019 called Betty in NY, with Elyfer Torres in the lead role.
