Brown and Vance Call on Administration to Declare Logan County a Small Business Disaster Area

U.S. Senators Sherrod Brown and J.D. Vance are urging the Small Business Administration to provide a disaster declaration for Logan County to aid in the recovery efforts for businesses and homes affected by tornadoes on March 14, 2024. This declaration would make low-interest loans available for qualifying businesses to repair damage caused by the tornadoes. Governor DeWine has also requested this disaster declaration.

The senators highlighted the significant damage caused by the tornadoes in Central Ohio, resulting in the destruction of homes, apartments, and businesses. This damage led to loss of life and serious injuries for many Ohio residents. While multiple counties were impacted by the tornadoes, Logan County has experienced ongoing economic damage that exceeds the threshold for SBA disaster assistance.

Brown and Vance have previously advocated for a FEMA disaster declaration in several other Ohio counties affected by tornadoes, including Auglaize, Crawford, Darke, Delaware, Hancock, Licking, Mercer, Miami, Richland, and Union counties. The letter to the Small Business Administration regarding Logan County’s disaster declaration request can be found on their website.
