Staff members from the Camden County Health Department gathered on a sunny day in Kingsland to participate in a ceremonial groundbreaking for a new health department building. The event took place on April 15, 2024, on a freshly cleared plot of land.

The new facility aims to improve health department operations and accessibility by providing a modern structure that can accommodate clinical and environmental health services in one location. It is anticipated that the facility will be ready for use by 2025.

Important stakeholders attended the groundbreaking event, including representatives from the Coastal Health District, Camden Board of Health, Southeast Georgia Health System, the State, and the cities of Kingsland, St. Marys, and Woodbine.

The total project cost for the new Camden County Health Department building exceeds $5.38 million. The funding for this project comes from various sources, including Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) VIII, Community Development Block Grant COVID (CDBG-CV), the Coastal Health District, and the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program. Land for the building was also donated by Southeast Georgia Health System.
