In late April, Lin Bin, co-founder of Xiaomi, tested Tesla’s full self-driving (FSD) software V12 in the United States. He shared his experience on Chinese social media Weibo, expressing his impressive reaction to the software, stating that it felt like a human driver. This week, Lin Bin posted a picture of a white Model Y and mentioned that he would be trying out the FSD software.

During his demo drive on April 26, Lin Bin described the experience as being similar to that of a human driver. He mentioned starting from a parking lot, driving on the highway, merging into traffic, going to the city, and then returning back to the parking lot. Despite the lack of high-precision maps and LIDAR, the software is entirely based on pure visual modeling.

The version 12 of Tesla’s FSD software is “ready for supervised FSD in LHD countries,” with RHD countries expected to follow suit later. Lin Bin expressed his anticipation for testing the software in a more crowded place. He co-founded Xiaomi in 2010 and served as President of the Group until 2019, before becoming Vice Chairman. In late March, Xiaomi launched its first EV model and has received over 100,000 orders.

Last month, Xpeng’s chief executive, He Xiaopeng, commented on Tesla’s advanced assisted driving software in China. He predicted that the new decade would focus on smart cars and acknowledged Tesla’s impressive autonomous driving technology. Tesla recently introduced its Enhanced Autopilot subscription service in China, with Elon Musk hinting at the possibility of offering full self-driving capabilities in China soon.

On Wednesday, Elon Musk hinted that the assisted driving software for the Cybertruck is only “a few months away.” Lin Bin and other industry leaders continue to monitor and assess the advancements in autonomous driving technologies.
