The Madrid singles draw features 13 American women, including third-seeded Gauff, wild card Amanda Anisimova, and Danielle Collins. Gauff will face Arantxa Rus in her opening match, possibly followed by Anisimova and a potential last-16 match against Naomi Osaka. Sabalenka, a two-time champion in Madrid, will meet either Magda Linette or Elisabetta Cocciaretto in her first match, with Collins as a potential last-16 opponent.

Although Gauff has a strong season record of 19-6, she is only 3-3 in Madrid. Her best result in the Spanish capital was reaching the last 16 in 2022. Sabalenka’s victories in Madrid include wins over Iga Swiatek and Ashleigh Barty in the finals of 2021 and 2022, respectively. Gauff achieved a career-high ranking of world No. 3 following her 2023 US Open victory, where she defeated Sabalenka in the final to claim her first Grand Slam singles title.
