The garden, consisting of approximately 1,300 colorful pinwheels, will be on display outside UVA Health’s West Complex through May 1. This installation is in honor of Donate Life Month in April, which celebrates the gift of life provided by organ donation and transplantation.
As Virginia’s only comprehensive transplant center, the UVA Health Transplant Center has a long history of performing organ transplants, with over 7,000 procedures completed since its establishment over 50 years ago. This April, the transplant team at UVA Health is focusing on the significance of living kidney and liver donations to assist the more than 100,000 individuals on transplant waiting lists in the US.
For those interested in learning more about becoming a living kidney or liver donor, information can be found on UVA Health’s living organ donation page. This initiative aims to raise awareness and encourage individuals to consider donating organs to help save lives.
Don’t miss the opportunity to see the beautiful pinwheel garden at UVA Health’s West Complex, which will remain on display until May 1. Stop by and take a moment to appreciate the beauty of the installation and reflect on the powerful impact of organ donation and transplantation.
