During day 2 of the 2024 Australian Open Championships, Elizabeth Dekkers set a new All Comers Record in the 200m butterfly event. The 19-year-old swimmer clocked in at 2:05.20, surpassing her previous record of 2:05.26 from the previous year. All Comers Records represent the fastest time ever recorded on Australian soil by a swimmer from any nation. Olympic medalist Brianna Throssell finished second with a time of 2:06.98, and Abbey Connor took bronze with a time of 2:08.09.

Dekkers took the lead primarily on the front end of her race, where she was .24 seconds faster compared to her previous record. The talented swimmer now holds the third-fastest time by an Australian in the 200m fly event, ranking 14th in the world. With Trials coming up in June, Dekkers is currently ranked second in the world this season.

In addition to her recent success at the Australian Open Championships, Dekkers has achieved podium finishes at international events such as earning silver in Fukuoka, bronze at the 2022 Short Course World Championships, and gold at the 2022 Commonwealth Games. Her impressive performances have solidified her as one of the top swimmers in the world in the 200m butterfly event.
