Tony Florez will be starting sessions today for the CAA World Congress of Sports at the JW Marriott at L.A. Live. The day will begin with World Congress Connect, a structured networking and information sharing session. Following this, attendees will enjoy brunch and opening remarks from SBJ Publisher & Executive Editor Abe Madkour. The first panel of the event will then discuss key industry issues with speakers including Arctos Partners’ TJ Adeshola, Kroenke Sports & Entertainment’s Kevin Demoff, the Mariners’ Catie Griggs, the Pro Tennis Players Association’s Ahmad Nassar, and NBC Olympics Productions’ Molly Solomon.
Day 1 of the World Congress will also feature other speakers such as NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman, Fanatics Chair Michael Rubin, DraftKings’ Jason Robins, and WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert. The event kicked off on Monday night with a welcome reception for around 250 attendees at the JW Marriott hosted by Ticketmaster. Prior to the event, many attendees watched the WNBA Draft on ESPN. Among those spotted at the reception were professionals from various organizations including Proskauer, the PGA of America, USA Gymnastics, Elevate, USL, the USTA, GMR Marketing, USA Fencing, the Earthquakes, TurnkeyZRG, underdog, Playfly, LHB Sports, VetTix, and Rakuten.
In addition to the welcome reception, DLA Piper and Innovative Partnerships Group also hosted events on the eve of the World Congress. DLA Piper held a gathering at Soho Warehouse, while Innovative Partnerships Group hosted cocktails and dinner at San Laurel at the Conrad hotel in downtown.
