Momo Pictures, a production company based in China, has teamed up with Fortissimo Films to handle the international distribution of their latest film, “Wild Punch.” The movie, directed by Yu Lik-wai and Wang Jing, is a sports and action drama that follows the story of a top mixed martial arts athlete facing competition from a younger trainee. As both athletes have something to prove, they are destined to face off in the ring.
Yu Lik-wai, known for his work on films like “Love Will Tear Us Apart” and “Plastic City,” has directed “Wild Punch.” The film is produced by Momo Pictures, a subsidiary of the Zhiwen Group, which is famous for the Momo instant messaging mobile application. This collaboration marks the first partnership between Momo Pictures and Fortissimo Films.
In addition to “Wild Punch,” Fortissimo Films has recently acquired the international rights for Shen Jie’s animated film “The Umbrella Fairy.” The company also represents other Chinese films such as Feng Xiaogang’s “If You Are the One 3” and Xu Haofeng’s “100 Yards.” Fortissimo Films’ portfolio includes cutting-edge Chinese animation like “Deep Sea” by Tian Xiaopeng, showcasing a diverse range of films from Chinese filmmakers.
