The Texas Rangers celebrated their first World Series championship in franchise history with the unfurling of a championship banner before their season opener against the Chicago Cubs. The banner was dropped from Globe Life Field’s roof support high above right field, commemorating their historic win. The Commissioner’s Trophy was also brought to home plate by manager Bruce Bochy and pitcher Josh Sborz, who made the final out to clinch the championship in November against the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Cubs manager Craig Counsell, who experienced winning a World Series himself, admitted to feeling a sense of envy while watching the ceremony from the opposing dugout.
