The Texas Rangers celebrated their first World Series championship in franchise history with the unfurling of a championship banner before their season opener against the Chicago Cubs. The banner was dropped from Globe Life Field’s roof support high above right field, commemorating their historic win. The Commissioner’s Trophy was also brought to home plate by manager Bruce Bochy and pitcher Josh Sborz, who made the final out to clinch the championship in November against the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Rangers pitcher Max Scherzer, who was part of the Washington Nationals’ championship team in 2019, expressed his excitement to enjoy the celebration with the fans this time, unlike in 2020 when pandemic restrictions prevented an in-person gathering. Cubs manager Craig Counsell, who experienced winning a World Series himself, admitted to feeling a sense of envy while watching the ceremony from the opposing dugout.
