Funding now accessible to enhance Indiana’s recycling economy

The Indiana Recycling Market Development Program (RMDP) is currently accepting grant proposals ranging from $50,000 to $500,000 for recycling projects in the state. Businesses, local governments, solid waste management districts, higher education institutions, and nonprofit organizations are all encouraged to apply.

Proposals should focus on sustainability, understanding the changing economy for recyclers, and how grant funding can help to expand recycling in Indiana through increased markets, manufacturing capacity, and job creation. The deadline for submitting proposals is June 13.

Projects must demonstrate economic impact, increased public awareness through outreach and education efforts, and achieve at least one of the following outcomes: an increase in the amount of recyclable material collected or used, a reduction in municipal solid waste sent for final disposal, or improved partnerships with communities.

RMDP grants are administered by the Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM), with final funding decisions to be made in the fall. For more information on eligibility requirements, project guidelines, and how to apply, interested parties can visit the RMDP website. Additional assistance is also available by calling 800-988-7901 or emailing RMDPGrants@idem.IN.gov.
