Joe Lieberman, the former Democratic candidate for vice-president in 2000, has passed away at the age of 82. He had left the party and was supporting a third-party bid for the White House this year. Lieberman, a former senator from Connecticut, died suddenly due to complications from a fall, as confirmed by his family in a statement on Wednesday. They described him as someone who had a deep love for God, his family, and America.

Lieberman was known for representing the center in US politics, a position that is becoming increasingly rare. He was also the founding chair of No Labels, a bipartisan group that aimed to launch a presidential ticket to challenge Joe Biden and Donald Trump in this year’s election. Unfortunately, the group had not yet found suitable candidates for the campaign at the time of his passing.
