Google begins testing a feature to find and delete our personal data online

Phishing, vishing, smishing… Cybercriminals use various channels to obtain personal data from their victims. Social engineering attacks have become more sophisticated and easier to fall for. However, imagine if this supposedly confidential information was available with a simple browser search.

Leaks, or data breaches, in the cybersecurity world involve the disclosure of internal information of a state, company, or entity that was not meant to be public. There are different levels of leaks, from minor to highly dangerous ones.

Recently, Argentina experienced major leaks, where personal information of citizens was exposed. Google has now launched a new feature to enhance user privacy by allowing individuals to locate personal data like names, phone numbers, and IDs on the internet without any protection.

To activate this feature on Google, users can follow these steps: Google will notify users if their specified information appears in the search engine. While Google cannot completely remove personal data from the internet, it can make it harder for malicious users to access it.

This new Google function is yet to be available in all regions, including Argentina. Users may need to use a VPN to change their connection location to access this tool. By following the steps provided, users can protect their personal information and mitigate the risks of data breaches.
