Tesla, the popular electric vehicle maker, recently announced that it will be laying off 2,688 workers from its Texas plant. This decision was made in compliance with the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Act (Warn Act), which mandates that companies with over a hundred employees provide 60 days’ notice of any planned closures or mass layoffs. The notice from Tesla indicated that the layoffs will begin on June 14.
It is worth noting that earlier this month, Elon Musk, the investor and CEO of Tesla, revealed plans to launch an unmanned taxi for consumers on August 8. This announcement came in the midst of ongoing developments within the company and the broader electric vehicle market. Despite the upcoming layoffs, Tesla continues to innovate and push boundaries in the realm of electric vehicles.
