Greg Olsen has been awarded the Sports Emmy for outstanding personality, event analyst, despite his upcoming move to Fox Sports’ No. 2 team. Olsen will be replaced by Tom Brady as the network’s top NFL color commentator next season. He is set to join Joe Davis on the No. 2 team after spending two years with Kevin Burkhardt on the top team.

In an awkward situation, Fox Sports “proudly” congratulated Olsen on his award, beating out nominees Troy Aikman, Cris Collinsworth, Bill Raftery, John Smoltz, and Tom Verducci. This marks the second Emmy win of Olsen’s career after he won outstanding personality — emerging on-air talent last year.

During his acceptance speech, Olsen hinted at uncertainty about his future, acknowledging that he loves talking football and is committed to the game. Despite his sudden rise in 2022 due to ESPN poaching Aikman and Joe Buck from Fox, it was never Fox’s intention for Olsen to take on a lead role after just one season in the booth.

Brady’s signing to a long-term deal with Fox paved the way for his future as a broadcaster, leaving limited options for top analyst positions with Aikman on ESPN, Collinsworth on NBC, and Tony Romo on CBS. Olsen remains open to opportunities that may arise in the future and is dedicated to discussing football and the direction of the game.
