On April 18, the Federal Trade Commission, Justice Department, and Department of Health and Human Services launched HealthyCompetition.gov, an online portal where the public can report potentially unfair and anticompetitive health care practices. The goal of the portal is to provide a way for individuals to voice their concerns and for the agencies to investigate any allegations that may violate antitrust laws or HHS authorities.

The FTC and the Justice Department’s Antitrust Division will be reviewing complaints submitted through the portal to determine which agency should investigate further based on the level of concern raised by the complaint. FTC Chair Lina Khan emphasized the importance of the portal, stating that it will provide a crucial channel for the agencies to hear from the public and help them identify and address any illegal business practices that harm consumers and workers.

HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra highlighted the Biden-Harris Administration’s commitment to stopping monopolistic and anti-competitive practices that can negatively impact the delivery of health care services to Americans. He emphasized that the information provided by the public through HealthyCompetition.gov will be instrumental in identifying and addressing these harmful behaviors in the healthcare industry.
