Healthcare system in the Chicago area offering complimentary suicide prevention workshops

A local healthcare system, Franciscan Health, is offering suicide prevention courses throughout the Chicago area. These courses are free and will be held in April and May. The curriculum, developed by the QPR Institute, focuses on teaching individuals how to recognize the warning signs of a suicide crisis and how to question, persuade, and refer someone to help.

Registration is required for the courses. Franciscan Health Michigan City will host a course on April 30th from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Central. The location is on Homer Street Legacy Campus at 301 W. Homer St. in Michigan City. To register, contact Community Health Improvement Coordinator Nila Williams.

Another course will be held at Franciscan Health Olympia Fields on May 20th from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. Central in the auditorium at 20201 S. Crawford Ave. For registration, reach out to Franciscan Health Community Health Improvement Director Danielle Crowder. The Franciscan Health Main St. Outpatient Center will host a course on May 23rd from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Central in the Marian Education Center’s Bonzel Suite at 1201 S. Main St. in Crown Point. To register, contact Franciscan Health Community Health Improvement Coordinator Stacy Zembala.
