According to reports from the Keshet TV channel and the Mako website, Hezbollah, the Lebanese Shiite group, has rejected the “French initiative” which included 12 points. One of the points proposed moving the Raduan unit 10 km from the border with Israel. In response, Hezbollah communicated their rejection of this proposal in writing, stating that it is impossible to prohibit residents of villages in southern Lebanon, who make up the Raduan unit, from being in the area.

Additionally, Hezbollah rejected proposals to increase the number of UNIFIL forces and give them freedom of action south of the Litani River. They also opposed the construction of observation towers manned by Lebanese army personnel along the border with Israel and the suggestion to create an international committee to monitor the security zone previously controlled by Israel.

After a meeting between Foreign Minister Israel Katz and his French counterpart Stéphane Sejournet on April 30, it was agreed to give the Paris initiative a chance. However, Katz expressed doubts about the plan, stating that action against Iran, rather than Hezbollah and Lebanon, is necessary to de-escalate the situation.

Defense Minister Yoav Galant, during a visit to northern Israel on May 8, met with IDF soldiers and warned about preparing for a potentially “hot” summer. Despite efforts to address tensions in the region, there remains skepticism about the viability of the proposed initiatives.
