Planning a wedding involves many different aspects, with most of the celebrations costing thousands of dollars. Nowadays, more and more people are turning to online shopping for their wedding needs. However, business experts are cautioning consumers that the majority of scams happen online, with four out of five incidents occurring in the digital realm.

According to Katarina Schmieder, the communications director for the Better Business Bureau in upstate New York, it is crucial to personally meet with potential service providers such as photographers, florists, and DJs before finalizing any deals. It is important to have a contract in place and thoroughly understand its contents, including the cancellation policy and the day-of plan to avoid any unexpected surprises.

When it comes to making payments for wedding services, Schmieder advises setting up payment plans instead of paying the full balance upfront. Additionally, she recommends using a credit card for payments as it provides better protection against fraud or scams. By following these guidelines, couples can ensure a smooth and secure wedding planning process.
