Treyvon Hoskins, a 14-year-old from Howell, Michigan, started offering to mow neighbors’ lawns at the young age of eight. By the time he was 10, he had his own business cards and had already built a strong reputation in the community. His hard work and dedication did not go unnoticed, and during a Howell City Council meeting on April 22, he was recognized and thanked in a big way.

Through generous donations, Hoskins received a Craftsman riding mower, a Honda push mower, work boots, socks, business cards, T-shirts, yard signs, door hangers, and fuel for the whole season. The unexpected gifts left Hoskins speechless, expressing his surprise and gratitude for the overwhelming support he had received.

Councilmember Nikolas Hertrich first noticed Hoskins mowing lawns in the summer of 2021 and was impressed by his exceptional work ethic and professionalism at such a young age. Hertrich rallied the community to help support Hoskins and his business, Treyvon’s Lawn Service, resulting in donations from various businesses and organizations in the area.

Hoskins, now a freshman at Howell High School, expressed his lifelong passion for landscaping and his dream of one day owning his own truck, trailer, and expanding his business with more employees. He uses social media to find customers and is dedicated to providing top-quality service to his clients. One example of his generosity and compassion is when he mowed a neighbor’s lawn free of charge while the neighbor was in the hospital.

During Monday’s City Council meeting, there was a five-minute recess for attendees to view Hoskins’ new Craftsman riding mower in the parking lot, showcasing the community’s appreciation for his hard work and dedication. Hoskins remains grateful for the support he has received and is excited to see where his landscaping business will take him in the future.
