A Hamas delegation is scheduled to travel to Cairo on Monday, April 29 for discussions on the ceasefire in Gaza. The delegation, led by Khalil al-Hayya, will respond to the ceasefire proposal put forward by mediators and Israel. Reports indicate that the new proposal includes progress on issues such as the return of displaced persons and the release of Palestinian prisoners.

In the meantime, Israel’s military operation in Rafah is imminent and plans for the invasion have been approved by IDF Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi. Combat teams from the Yiftach and Carmeli Brigades are conducting targeted raids to eliminate terrorists and destroy terrorist infrastructures in the central corridor of the Gaza Strip. The situation on the ground is being closely monitored, with new operational plans approved for continued fighting.

Amidst the escalating tension, Palestinian President Abu Mazen expressed concern that Israel may attempt to remove Palestinians from the West Bank after taking action in Gaza. He called for the United States to intervene and prevent Israel from attacking Rafah, emphasizing the need for a political solution that unites the Gaza Strip, the West Bank, and Jerusalem in an independent Palestinian state.

Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant affirmed Israel’s commitment to destroying Hamas and bringing hostages home, urging soldiers to continue their efforts. The Hamas Ministry of Health reported a significant toll of casualties since the conflict began, highlighting the human cost of the ongoing war.
