Indonesia is set to host the world artistic gymnastics championships in 2025, marking the first time the country will host the prestigious event. The championships will be held in the capital city of Jakarta from Oct. 19-25 next year. With a population of about 280 million, Indonesia previously hosted the 2018 Asian Games, where gymnastics competitions were held in a hall within the Jakarta International Expo complex. The venue for the 2025 World Gymnastics Championships is listed as IMS Arena. However, the world championships held after an Olympic year typically do not include the men’s and women’s team events.

Although the International Gymnastics Federation has not released the schedule yet, the event is expected to last for seven days, following the format of previous competitions that were individual events only. In general, worlds that feature team events tend to be longer than one week. The most recent world championships were held in Antwerp, Belgium last year. The 2026 Worlds were awarded to Rotterdam, Netherlands, and the 2027 Worlds to Chengdu, China.

Simone Biles, the celebrated American gymnast, recently shared details about her journey back to the top of gymnastics after experiencing challenges with a condition known as twisties. Biles’ return to the sport highlights the perseverance and dedication that elite athletes demonstrate to overcome obstacles and achieve success.
