Israel did not accept the truce proposal put forward by Hamas, leading to the ongoing fighting between the two sides. The military wing of Islamic Jihad claimed responsibility for firing rockets from Gaza towards southern Israel in response to Israeli airstrikes in the area. The Israeli Armed Forces confirmed that airstrikes had been carried out in communities near the Gaza Strip.

Despite Hamas accepting a ceasefire proposal from mediators to end the conflict in Gaza, the Israeli government refused to agree to the terms. Reports from Qatari media, including al-Jazeera, indicated that Israel was not willing to accept the proposed ceasefire. Israel continued to conduct airstrikes in Rafah, with the explanation that they were preparing for a ground operation.
