The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced on Wednesday that they had killed around 30 alleged “terrorists” since the start of the invasion of the city of Rafah. The invasion began on Monday with the seizure of the Palestinian side of the border crossing, one of the few remaining avenues of humanitarian aid. The IDF reported hitting at least a hundred targets in the last few hours, including buildings suspected of serving as Hamas operations centers in the east of Rafah, resulting in the elimination of 30 “terrorists.”

The Israeli Army stated that they had reached Rafah, attacked the area, surrounded the crossing, and took control of it. They emphasized that they would remain in the area as long as necessary to carry out their mission. The invasion of Rafah came after weeks of threats from the Israeli government, despite warnings from the international community about the catastrophic consequences for the nearly 1.4 million people trapped in the area after fleeing from other regions.

Despite Hamas reporting its acceptance of a ceasefire proposal presented by Qatar and Egypt, Benjamin Netanyahu’s government decided to proceed with the invasion. The situation continues to evolve, with ongoing military operations and clashes between the IDF and alleged terrorists in Rafah.

In light of the ongoing conflict and humanitarian crisis, it is essential for the international community to continue monitoring the situation and advocating for the protection of civilians and the promotion of peace and stability in the region.
