In the World Championship semi-final at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield, Jak Jones took control of a shortened third session against 2015 champion Stuart Bingham. Opening the session at 8-8, Bingham took the first frame on Saturday morning, but Jones responded with three half-century breaks and reeled off five consecutive frames. Despite Bingham’s rally with a superb 104 break, only seven of the eight scheduled frames were completed due to the protracted nature of the 21st frame, which lasted over 50 minutes.

Jones, the world number 44, defeated Judd Trump in the quarter-finals and is aiming to become the lowest-ranked finalist since Shaun Murphy in 2005. Bingham, on the other hand, made several errors in his play, showing a lack of rhythm and loose safety shots. The 47-year-old was heavily punished for missing crucial shots, like failing to knock in a long green and missing a black off its spot. Despite his efforts to gain snookers in the 21st frame, the seemingly unflappable Jones managed to capitalize on Bingham’s mistakes.

In another semi-final match, Kyren Wilson holds a 14-10 lead over David Gilbert, with their match concluding later in the day. Jones’ impressive performance has put him in a strong position to reach the Crucible final, aiming for a chance to become the 32nd player to achieve this feat. The semifinals continue to showcase high-stakes snooker action as the players fight for a spot in the final showdown.
