Keller Market House sees growth after successful eight years in business

Eight years ago, with only an empty room and an idea, the Keller Market House was established at the corner of South Columbus and West Chestnut streets in Lancaster. Over the years, the business has seen great success. Recently, the board and staff celebrated the completion of an expansion project.

Funded by a $195,000 grant from the United States Department of Agriculture, the expansion took a couple of years to complete. The renovation focused on the back part of the building, which was previously unusable. The redesign created a dedicated delivery entrance that opens into a vendor workspace, freeing up more retail area in the front of the building. Additionally, three new refrigerators and three new freezers were added.

The Keller Market House is more than just a grocery store. It is a non-profit community grocery offering locally produced goods from Ohio. The market is open year-round, six days a week, and also operates the Lancaster Farmers Market during the summer.

David Keller Miller, a descendant of the family that started the original Keller Market on the same spot, was present at the expansion celebration. He expressed his amazement at the transformation of the market over the years.

The Keller Market House is open from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday.
