Aubreigh Heck, a senior at Kansas Wesleyan University, has been invited to participate in a breakout session at the Kansas Collegiate Media state convention on April 22 at Wichita State University. The panel discussion will focus on the importance of covering local sports, particularly high school sports, and highlight how some of the best sports journalism is achieved at the local level.

During the session, Heck will address the challenges and rewards of covering sports as a woman, sharing her experiences from covering high school sports in Hutchinson and Salina. As a double-major in Communications and Public Relations, Heck brings a unique perspective to the discussion.

In addition to Heck, the panel will feature other industry professionals including Scott Paske from the Kansas State High School Activities Association and formerly of the Wichita Eagle, Charles Chaney from The El Dorado Times-Gazette, and Joel Muhs from the McPherson Sentinel. With this diverse group of panelists, attendees can expect to gain valuable insights into sports journalism and the local sports scene.
