Lions Reveals Fresh Designs for the 2024 Uniforms

The Lions recently unveiled their new uniforms for the 2022 season, which were developed in collaboration with Nike. These new uniforms feature a richer tone of Honolulu Blue, reminiscent of the team’s early 1990s look. True silver has also made a comeback in the uniform, appearing in various outlines and stripe elements, as well as in the team’s traditional pants.

The franchise officially revealed the full uniforms at Ford Field, following an online leak that occurred seven hours prior. In addition to the primary uniforms, the Lions introduced black as an alternate uniform option. This black jersey features Honolulu Blue lettering outlined in silver, paired with an all-black alternate pant option. The alternate jersey can be paired with a blue helmet, providing a new and bold look for the team.

Lions president Rod Wood expressed his excitement for the new era of Lions football, stating that the Honolulu Blue and Silver colors have defined the team for generations. He emphasized the importance of evolving the look of the team while paying homage to its past and looking towards the future. The combination of traditional and alternate jerseys aims to capture the essence of Detroit and the diverse fan base that supports the team.

The design of the new uniforms was influenced by Ford Motor Company’s relaunch of the Bronco in 2021, which modernized a classic design. The Lions sought to bring a similar blend of tradition and innovation to their new uniforms, creating a fresh look that honors the team’s history while embracing new possibilities for the future.
