Loadsmart highlights the technology needs and opportunities for small fleets

During the FreightWaves’ 3PL Summit on Wednesday, a fireside chat took place discussing the topic of leveraging technology for fleet growth. Casey Monahan, vice president of digital sales at LoadSmart, spoke with FreightWaves’ Grace Sharkey about what his company’s TMS systems can provide and what today’s growing fleets need as technology advances.

Monahan emphasized the importance of small carriers to LoadSmart, stating that they are viewed as the lifeblood of the company. He stressed the significance of keeping these carriers happy as a brokerage and technology partner. LoadSmart values feedback from carrier partners and has a community where carriers can provide suggestions and engage with one another.

Load matching was discussed as a challenging aspect of the industry, with Monahan acknowledging that while it is a desired feature, it can be difficult to achieve. The focus for LoadSmart is on supporting carriers in growing their fleets, from five trucks to 25 trucks and beyond.

Monahan mentioned that LoadSmart is rolling out various AI products to simplify the interaction with data for carriers. One such product, Copilot, allows users to ask the system questions about their data, making it easier to gain insights and make informed decisions. The goal is to make it simple for carriers to access and utilize their data effectively.
