The Detroit High School Sports Awards, presented by Detroit Area Honda Dealers, is excited to reveal the nominees for the Hockey Player of the Year. The winner will be announced during a live show on June 18 at The Fillmore Detroit, in partnership with the U.S. Army.

This program is part of a nine-month student-athlete recognition initiative that will conclude with a red-carpet event this spring. The Detroit High School Sports Awards celebrates athletes, coaches, and teams from the wider Detroit region who participate in MHSAA-sanctioned sports.

The live show will honor nominees for Hockey Player of the Year along with players of the year from 28 other sports. Additionally, the event will feature awards for outstanding on-field and off-field achievements, including a Courage Award, Coaches of the Year, Team of the Year, and Boys and Girls Athlete of the Year.

Sponsored athletes who RSVP will receive complimentary tickets to the event, while guests of the nominees can purchase tickets separately. Nominees can register for the show on the event website, where interested individuals can also learn more about the event and sign up for updates.

The nominees for Hockey Player of the Year include Will Barrett from Trenton High School, Joe Curtin from Novi Detroit Catholic Central High School, Garrett Dudlar from Bloomfield Hills Cranbrook-Kingswood School, Cam Duffany from Brighton High School, Nolan Galda from Novi Detroit Catholic Central High School, and John Kunz from Birmingham Brother Rice High School.
