A recent study examining Google Play downloads of productivity tools has revealed that a large number of mobile users are using their smartphones to organize their work and manage their daily tasks. According to the report by SplitMetrics, the top apps in the business and productivity categories have collectively seen billions of downloads. Microsoft’s LinkedIn leads the business category with 1.5 billion lifetime downloads, with other popular apps including Zoom, Microsoft Teams, OfficeSuite, and Indeed.

In the productivity category, Google dominates with apps like Google Drive, Google Calendar, Microsoft OneDrive, Google Assistant, and Google Keep. These apps have received billions of downloads over their lifetime. The study also highlights the apps that have shown significant growth year-over-year, such as Lopay, Etsy Seller, JobSwipe, Parcel Tracking, Shopify, PDF Reader, Notepad, All Document Reader, Google Tasks, and Link to Windows.

According to Thomas Kriebernegg, General Manager of SplitMetrics, the popularity of apps that help users be more productive and manage their work efficiently is on the rise. With the increase in on-demand services, remote work, and mobile entrepreneurship, there is a growing demand for easy-to-use and feature-rich business and productivity apps. While acquiring users in the business category may be costly, the high engagement and potential value of these users present a significant market opportunity.
