Lil Uzi Vert recently joined Paramore on stage during their Madison Square Garden show to perform their hit song “Misery Business.” This live collaboration was special for both the artists and the fans. During the performance, Uzi sang the bridge of the song with Hayley Williams, the band’s frontwoman, instead of the usual crowd. Uzi led the bridge with some crowd participation before Williams publicly thanked him, saying, “Hey Uzi, we’ve been talking a little bit, but this is the first time we’ve met in person. I love you.”
Uzi has been very vocal about his admiration for the band in the past, telling Zane Lowe of Apple Music 1 about his love for Williams in 2017. He complimented her, saying, “She looks like the best. She’s hard to beat. She looks like the best and I don’t have any siblings in my generation alone.” Over the years, Uzi’s love for Paramore has not faded, leading to this incredible collaboration.
Williams opened up about the collaboration with Uzi, sharing that it was mostly due to timing and her decision to step back from the spotlight. She revealed that she messaged him on Instagram, explaining her desire to take a break from the fame associated with the music industry. Williams stated, “…I literally wrote him back on Instagram and I said, ‘Buddy, I love you so much, but I don’t want to be that famous.'” Williams had been dealing with several personal issues, and this collaboration wouldn’t have happened if she hadn’t decided to step back.
Aside from this collaboration, the Arctic Monkeys also made headlines by performing “Murdy Bum” for the first time in a decade. The music scene has been full of amazing performances, collaborations, and surprises, proving that even during challenging times, music is still bringing people together.
